Black Copper Marans
Chickens from
The Sebastopol Goose Barn.
My
Black Copper Marans Chickens are a very docile breed of chicken, they
do not threaten you and are excellent free rangers. We have
a joke around here that the Black Copper Marans are our wild
chickens. They don't bother anyone or anything, they
are able to forage on their own for 80 % of their own feed, even in the
fall and winter. They are also an excellent survivor of any
predators, they get into the hen house an hour before dusk , roosting
up high where they are safe. they
The Black Copper Marans return to the hen
house during the day to lay their eggs in the nest boxes.
They are the broodiest breed of chicken I have ever seen, even so more
than the Silkies (which are suppose to be the broodiest).
As soon as we have a clutch of eggs (10-12) a hen will claim it as her
own. I have had excellent success with moving a
hen in the dark onto different eggs, whether it be duck, goose or
another breed of chicken. They are true old fashion setting
hen type chickens. They will always have a place here on our farm.

Hatching Post. I am so
honored that they loved my video.
Well we
did it , we ordered black copper
marans eggs in the mail from Dave in Ohio. Out of 12 very nice dark
eggs we had 10 hatch. Video shows the dark eggs and
the quality of chicks
that hatched,
could’t be happier with the result. Beautiful black copper marans
chickens. For more information feel free to email me at
nolting1@loganet.net or call 1-402-312-5529 for more information
(Marlene).
